5 Minute Character History: Ellie
Ellie first stepped into Degrassi as Ashley’s new ‘edgy’ friend AKA: she wore a lot of black clothing with chains. She was BFF’s with ‘pre-outing’ Marco, and they briefly dated before she realized that he did not want to put his P in her V. They’re still really close.
The BEST thing about Ellie though was her family. Her mom was an alkie and her dad was in Iraq with the Canadian version of the Army. Ellie turned to cutting as a release which led to an awesome confrontation between Paige and Ellie when the former discovered the latter in the bathroom slicing into her wrist with a protractor. The following scene involved a lot of Paige screaming ‘Ellie, let me look at your arm!’ and of course, the ginger obliged. Ellie stopped cutting but after her mother lit their house on fire in one of her vodka soaked binges, so she moved in with Sean, who has also been a class act.
After Sean randomly dropped out of Degrassi (the show and the place), Ellie played in a band with Craig, who she was absolutely in love with, not that he noticed she was alive because Manny had her claws sunk into him like a vulcher with a piece of road kill.
Ellie, in a fit of rage while she played the drums, threw her drumstick at Manny, who was the new tambourine player (in a orange sweat suit and matching fedora). After a 2 episode streak dating (kinda) Craig, she realized that he was a huge doucher and set her sights on Jimmy.
She helped Jimmy realize that he could be good at things other than sports, and I personally think that they would make the best couple ever. However, they never actually got together.
In the movie Ellie randomly decided to drink a whole bottle of vodka after a phone call to her mother who told her that her father’s PTSD had taken a turn for the worse. After that Ellie decided the rational thing would be to walk into the ocean with all of her clothes on…because, you know, that’s a stable thing to do. The movie ended with nothing resolved between her and Craig.
